That's great and all, but what led the cops to that conclusion? Was there new evidence or something? The accused had been the main suspect for a while, as I understand it.

Edit: Ah, okay, this article is better than the CNN one, it actually explains everything.

This explains it:

"The suspect, Ottis Toole, had twice confessed to killing the child, but later recanted. He claimed responsibility for hundreds of murders, but police determined most of the confessions were lies. Toole's niece told the boy's father, John Walsh, her uncle confessed on his deathbed in prison that he killed Adam."

Adam was born in November of 1974; I was born in September of 1974. When the story hit that Adam had been abducted, and they eventually found only his head, it really tore me up. Of course, the movie came out, and it was even worse. Being almost the exact age as him really freaked me out, and I'll always remember Adam Walsh. Terrible tragedy, but at least a lot of positive has come out of it. John Walsh and his crusade have been outstanding.

"What a Toole"

and at the end Richard Moran.

Not the 6-year-old boy, abducted and decapitated?

Interesting.

props to John Walsh. he's done a lot of good from something so bad.. i feel bad for him and his family. i cannot imagine what i'd do if someone did that to my 6 yr old. i may get crazy enough don a batsuit or a ninja outfit or something and go crime fighting at night.
