I've been playing this piece over and over on a loop. So soothing yet so powerful...of course, it's the tune that was played throughout the movie Platoon. Anyone else have an affection for this piece?

Adagio :) Yes, it's a great piece. It's probably one of the more famous from an American composer.

The same. Liked it for a long time now. Play it a great deal upon returning home from work.

Had never seend Platoon until recently, made it that much better.

Makes me skin crawl...in a good way.

I have an album called Pieces in a modern style by William Orbit and it has a 7 minute remake of Barbers' adagio for strings, a very moving piece it also has some other really nice tunes on.

Yeah I like it but after hearing it in ten thousand movie trailers over the years I'm thoroughly sick of it. Curse you Platoon for causing the overexposure of that beautiful song!

Get a choral version of it, ala Homeworld. It's good, but a bit over used.
