Ad space is getting out of control...

Search for "ad space" on eBay. The sheer amount of people asking for ridiculous amounts of money to place ads on their bodies or cars is out of control. I realize that a couple people have made huge money doing this, but the vast majority of these people are asking for $10,000+ for ONE MONTH! Don't they realize that no one's bidding on these before they post them?

I think it has to do with some things called "free enterprise" and "supply and demand" or something like that.

Yeah...supply and demand is when consumers want and businesses deliver. That's not this. This is people seeing one person be successful with this and thinking "Hey, I'm gonna do that, too!" Almost all of them are ending with 0 bids, except for the really good ones like space in the end zone at the Super Bowl.

Yeah, and due to supply and demand they will quit eventually because there is no demand.

But I did hear about one dude getting 37k for his forehead, and a woman getting a few thousand for her pregnant belly. That's crazy.

People don't understand that once the novelty wears off, it's not going to be a $37k sale every time. You need to have something that sets you apart from everyone else doing it.

Which is not to say that I didn't smack myself in the forehead for not thinking of it first. I mean I'm such a cynic, it should have popped to mind instantly.

I did an auction like this about a month ago before it because the latest rage (had me and a guy who got like 25k+), mine was forehad space for 7 weeks and all money going to Tsunami relief efforts. I was asking 9K and had 2 nespaper interviews lined up including the Boston Globe if anyone bid, but no one did.
