Ad companies or Anandtech forums?

I can sit here waiting for a forum to load for up to 30 seconds, with random different sites being in my status bar...

It hangs at things like:

"Transferring data from beacon.lijit.com..."

or

"Connecting to b.scorecardresearch.com..."

Here are a few others I've seen:

"b.scorecardresearch.com"
"renment.fmpop.com"
"ads.doubleclick.net"
"a.tribalfusion.com"
"edge.quantserve.com"
"pixel.quantserve.com"
"spe.atdmt.com"
"google.analytics.com"
"network.realmedia.com"

Is this an Anantech thing, or possibly my computer? It's a work computer....... I've ran spywareblaster, malwarebytes, MSE, nothing shows up...

It is really REALLY slowing down my forum experience!

My pc loads these forums very fast. But I am using opera and I think I have most of those sites blocked.

It is slower on firefox at home. And even more slower on my ipoop.

Yep, those are part of the AT forums loading. Those are all tracking ad companies, that get your IP address from AT forums.

It's pretty annoying. I've got most of them blocks via a HOSTS file, but Waterfox still slows down loading those sites, waiting for 127.0.0.1 to timeout.

I understand that they're necessary for AT to be able to afford to operate...

But really, I need to connect to all these other sites before I can load a thread, and one of those sites is taking 15-20 seconds sometimes, it gets REALLY annoying :thumbsdown:

How do I go about blocking them?

I'm using Firefox.

Adblock Plus and the annoyances disappear.

Tried that, it keeps saying "Requires additional items." but won't tell me which ones?

Installed FF11 and now adblock works... But I still see those sites in the status bar...

I have this happen AT ALOT OF SITES lately,i dunno if its the spam ads or what!!

This one site its getting quite bad! (hipforums.com/forums) It started doing this maybe 2 months ago.... I have to keep hitting REFRESH as the page wont ever load!! (Freezes 1/2 way)

Thankfully this site is fine...


EDIT:

I logged onto hipforums with IMAGES DISABLED and all tabs loaded fine so its something they added that didnt used to be there... (Dunno what @ the moment)
