It finds at least fifteen different versions of spyware on your computer -- such as aureate, adware, doubleclick to name some of the best known -- that collect info on your net usage. 4.55 reports every file it finds spyware in and gives you the choice of whether to delete it or not. That is good since some of the host software will not run if you remove the embedded spyware, in which case you have to decide whether you are willing to trade your privacy for the function the software is performing or not. I have been diligent about kicking the stuff off of my systems and 4.55 found a doubleclick file I had overlooked.
Note added. DocDoo Great minds etc.
The reason for adding the note though is that I discovered that AdAware reports it removed the Doubleclick file, but a search shows it to still be present. Did this a couple of times. Window Washer got rid of it though. I don't know why AdAware thinks it has removed the file when it hasn't. If it didn't find it that would be one thing, but to find and report it and then report it removed when it wasn't is disturbing.
