Credibility Rating: N/A

Torrance, Calif. 11/22/2004 -- Acura year-to-date sales reached 170,945 units on Friday, November 19, surpassing the division's all-time sales record of 170,918 set in 2003, Acura announced today.

"This new sales record is a testament to the strength of our product lineup," said Steve Center, assistant vice president, Acura sales. "The TL has set a record each month this year and the MDX and TSX continue to exceed our projections. Our all-new, top-of-the-line model, the RL luxury performance sedan, went on sale last month and should boost Acura sales close to the 200,000 mark for the year."

After a record-breaking year in 2003, Acura has set a new sales record each month in 2004. Year-to-date TL sales of 67,942 units have made it the nation's top-selling luxury sedan.

 Acura looks set on removing Mercedes Benz from it's 3rd place position out of the best selling luxury brands in the US ;)

I've never seen a G35, I've never seen ANY Acuras other than RSX's. And I live in richfvckville. I somehow question their statuses as luxury vehicles.

I did the comparison. If you want RSX figures removed, make sure you remove the C230 Kompressor Sport Coupe from mercedes ;)

Acura is no Mercedez in name or reputation, but they damn nice and performance is much better than your average car. I guess it's how you define luxury. If luxury is an exclusive term that represents name and reputation, than no. But if you're talking nice leather, decent performance and nice features than they are luxury. In west LA, I see tons of G35's and TL's. I like the body of the new TL.

I wish Acura offered another SUV. The MDX doesn't really offer any off-road capability (their literature even admits that the transmission was designed for on-road use). As such, it seems to me that it has kind of lost the "Sport" in "SUV." I don't go off road much but I do occasionally take old unmaintained logging roads when I go hiking so any vehicle I buy needs to be able to handle these.

to some it doesn't matter how luxurious it is, only how much it costs.

I'd prefer value over incredible exensive.

if you live in richfvcksville, all the people probably skipped acura and went straight for the BMWs and Mercedes. :)

What I don't understand is why Honda split off Acura so they could separate their "econobox" and "luxury" lines...and then starts building INTEGRAS?

Seems to be a bit of mixed message...I don't think Lexus ever built a real econobox like Acura.
