Big sedan with an inline 6?

BMW 730i. 3 liter inline 6, 225hp, bigger than... anything, and virtually a limo on the inside. The funny thing is, people consider it a dog for it's engine power and weight, yet it's still better than a Crown Vic with a v8.

What else.... Volvo S80 t6. Twin turbo 2.9l i6. You can even get it in AWD. Without a doubt more comfortable than any american car ever built. Volvos are known for their comfort.

Looks like they definitely streamlined it with the G35 in mind. I test drove the M45 last year after I got my G35 and I thought it was too big, especially in the front.
 
Well I hope Infiniti does better than they did with the Q45.

Drove an 04 Q45 and a Lexus LS and I have to say the Q45 felt like a brick compared to the Lexus. I mean it just hammered over the bumps. And figuring out how to get the radio on bordered on BMW stupidity.

There's nothing exciting about the Lexus LS, but man it's just smoooth. You don't hear or feel a thing in that car.

Also drove a new RL recently. I would take that over both I think. The only problem we had was the proximity key. In an uncharacteristic design flaw on Honda's part, you need to remember to turn the ignition switch back all the way to shut if off, then push it in and turn it back one more click to turn off ACC. The car went dead on us overnight.

You don't remember to do that because you don't have to take a key out of the ignition. I suppose once your used to it then it isn't a problem, but I see a lot of road service calls when they start selling a lot of these things.

Wrong. A V12 is 2 I6 engines powering the same crankshaft. If you double the number of cylinders, you halve the interval between power (combustion) cycles, leading to a smoother power delivery.

Also, an inline 4 produces a non-zero amount of vibration (which is why larger inline 4 engines require two balancer shafts), though I can't remember any specifics.

EDIT: Besides, a gas turbine engine or a Wankel engine with 4 or more rotors is almost guaranteed to be smoother than an I6.

heh, I'm actually thinking about pulling out balance shafts on my car to get back the 5 HP or whatever. I don't care if my engine runs harsh or lumpy. 😀
