The biggest news here is that after months of hype and buzz, concept cars, and one of nissan's signature oversize engines (motto: "only detroit can get less power per liter than us!"), they still can't beat the performance of the already available RL. Car and Driver drove their RL to 60 in 6.7 seconds. once again, honda matches or beats nissan at their own game (the "performance" choice of the big 3), and does it with less displacement. and if history repeats itself, we can expect the M45 to be quite a whale on the scale. after all, nissan did require 618 more pounds and nearly double the engine to squeeze squeeze S2000-level performance out of their own roadster.

people may say the RL looks like the accord (true), but M45 just looks like a bloated maxima. at least the RL gets its pedigree from a car that isn't butt-ugly to start with.

Did some honda owner screw your guys collective moms or something? Sh*t.

Since we're all internet racing now, if dragstrip performance is that important to buyers in this segment, they can buy a TL for something like 10K+ less than either car and run 14.20 @ 98 mph

Is the M45 even for sale yet? Or are we internet racing cars from the future now?

Huh? You think that 5-Series is a "family sedan" too? The Camry is a family sedan. The Accord is a family sedan. Theses are not "family sedans"

Actually, since we're jacking off to 0-60 times now, the 525 is slow as f*ck, and the 530 is a little bit faster than a 525.

This forum has always been internet racing. :p

I love how people bash on cars and say, "Oh what a POS! No V8? No RWD? WTF is wrong with those idiots?! I'll never buy that POS!" Then they wake up the next day and drive their 4 banger FWD sedan. :D

huh? the VQ35 is the same displacement as the RL motor, and nissan has it up to 300 hp, with more torque at a lower rpm than the RL motor. and matches or beats? no, honda got beat. did you read what NFS4 posted? are you smoking crack?

Riiiight.
You sound like one of those "my Honduh gets more HP per liter and therefore is superior" guys

Did you even read the post?
The M35 RWD beat the hailed RL with "super handling" AWD in just about every performance category.
Forget about what the M45 will do to it.

The displacement is exactly the same in both engines, and I'd be willing to bet that the VQ has a fatter torque curve throughout, especially in lower RPMs.

And the Accord IS a "butt-ugly" car, literally.

I wouldn't say ugly, but not as appealing as the G35 ass... that's hot, especially with a wing.

for the love of imports...and god knows i love imports....i can't stand the honda people who think HP per liter rules everything. When you're driving a luxo car and need to get around town and haul ass you expect the luxo car to haul ass without having to flog the crap out of it...unless you're wall street wannabe racer with a TSX.

dethroning the 5 series? I doubt it, it's still a Nissan with a hideous (standard) Infiniti rear end.

i did miss that this is the 35, not the 45, that's my bad entirely.

but did you read what i posted? the RL does 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, verified by a respected USA magazine. the M did it in 6.7 seconds, a figure we get second-hand from a known honda-bashing site, which was supposedly verified by a japanese magazine (no link was provided, and will we even get the same version of the engine/emissions controls in the US?). sounds like at least a match to me. and although i haven't seen specs on the specific version of the 3.5 nissan will be using in the USA M35, the 298 HP version in the G35 makes identical torque to the RL. and yes, it makes it 200 RPM lower. but the RL makes its max power 400 RPM lower than the G35. so you've got 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

regarding my supposed rice-boy status: yeah i drive a honda. STATION WAGON. old. slow. the only stickers are for rock bands. i did get a new exhast a while back... stock. so if driving a bone-stock beater and having no illusions about it makes me a ricer, then ok, whatever floats everyone's boat. as long as none of us have actually driven both of these cars, i'm no less qualified to speculate than anyone else.

well a g35 with the same engine gets 0-60 in about 6.2 even in the heaviest version the g35x. in auto. so its not really out of reason to expect the m35 to do it in 6.7 if it weighs around 3800 pounds.

i do agree the m35's tail looks terrible. musta been the same guy who did the g35 sedan's tail. they went a little overboard on the giant taillights.
