As if further evidence was needed of the phenomenon that is "Joe the Plumber" (however brief it may be), there comes this e-mail advisory:

Real Toledo Area Plumbers to Hold Press Conference to Express Their Grave Concerns with Senator McCain?s Economic Policies

The message goes on to advise that in Northwood, Ohio, today "members of Local 50 Plumbers, Steamfitters and Service Mechanics" will not only take questions but "share their concerns with several of Sen. McCain's proposals, including his plan to tax employer-based healthcare insurance, his tax proposal which favors the wealthy over working Ohioans and other issues that will impact working families."

The gathering takes place shortly before a scheduled McCain appearance in nearby Westerville, Ohio.

Joe the Plumber -- aka Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher -- lives close to both events. No word on whether the fellow McCain thrust into the spotlight as an iconic working stiff (but who, as it turns out, is not an officially licensed plumber) will make it to either.

It wouldn't matter of if Joe the Plumber was a gay black hermaphroditic midget; Joe didn't say anything controversial, BHO himself is the one that wants to "Spread the Wealth Around."

BHO said it, not Joe.

Joe is just an attempt at distraction because BHO, Mr. Chicago Machine Empty Suit, swallowed his foot in the absence of a TelePrompTer.

The 'crats are starting to really sound panicky ... all that money spent, and still such a close race, whodathunk it?

You got one thing right ScottMac, Joe is just an attempt at distraction and it failed miserably. McCain will be kicking himself in the ass all the way back to the Senate. I like the projected panic btw. Only one side is panicing right now and it ain't the Obama camp.

It is an argument of progressive taxation versus regressive taxation. People who fall back on the idea of 'spreading the wealth around' to disparage progressive taxation are those who didn't have the chance to ask why the rich should be taxed more than the poor in Econ 101.

Billions have been spent programming the brains of morons to fire their synapses in alarm whenever the words 'redistribute the wealth' is heard. The heart begins to pound, knees began to jerk, and mouths open wide to scream Commie Commie Commie.

Ziek heil ziek heil ziek heil!

So fucking sad.

Why do you have such a big problem with "spreading the wealth around" some after the wealthy stole it from the middle and lower classes by depressing wages through offshore outsourcing, the importation of foreigners to displace Americans on H-1B and L-1 visas, and mass immigration?

Do you really think that your average American gives two squats about the welfare of the rich at this point? Why should they care about wealthy CEOs who bankrupted companies and put middle class people out of work only to get bailed out by taxpayer dollars?

OK, I was wondering if I'm the only person who noticed this.
Recently Republicans have enjoyed accusing Democrats of fascism even though they're the ones who've acted like Nazi's for the past eight years.

Its especially common here on Anandtech's P&N forum. I wonder if they even realize how funny it is.

Well there's some breaking news. A labor union coming out in defense of the Demotardic party. What's next? News that most blacks in this country will also vote Democrat? The base of the party is supporting the party, what a shocker. Fear mongering by the Demotards continues to work.

Joe the Plumber actually had the audacity to question The Messiah. He has the nerve to aspire to something greater and question how a tax policy wouold affect him and for his trouble he has been lambasted by the media and the empty suit's minions.

No, you didnt. You changed it for innaccuracy.

If you have been paying attention here and in the news lately, republicans have been calling democrats fascists.
For the previous 20 years they did refer to them as communists, yes. But that slander no longer invokes fear and hate anymore.

Excellent reaction. It is really hearting to see that the Dems (and Obama's campaign in particular) have learned a lot from the swiftboating episode and react quickly, forcefully and effectively to the bogus attacks. It bodes well for how Obama will perform as President.

And Scotty, there are more than a few of us Americans who do not think the government should be encouraging the concept of concentration of wealth in a small elite, which is all that has been accomplished in this trickle down fiasco. Responsible citizens should be willing to pay their fair share of the government's expenses-at least if they claim to be patriotic. I never understood the GOP antipathy to paying for government in anything but the blood of others.

Shocking really that the McCain camp didnt figure out that plumbers dont make 250k before they decided to pound this issue in the political spotlight. Shows how out of touch they are with the working class.

Mr McCain made "Joe the Plumber" the poster boy for his tax policies. But in reality the real "Joe the Plumber" would benefit more from Mr Obama's tax plan.

I doubt this is a defining moment for Mr McCain's campaign but you have to wonder wtf he was thinking when he decided to go with the Plumber.

:Q just :Q I tell you. A UNION supports the Dem? Say it ain't so joe....

Oh, and one doesn't have to be "licensed" or part of a plumber's union to be an "Actual" plumber.

But this whole thing sure is a nice attempt at distracting people from what BHO said...

That varies by state. In many states one has to be licensed to advertise oneself as a plumber. One can still plumb but has to call oneself a "person of handiness" who happens to be able to fix plumbing.

Exxon mobil pays $30+ billion in taxes a year, and instead of getting commended for their patriotism as Joe Biden says they get slammed by the radical left.
