You can get the "Dawn" fairy, the "Ogre", the "Time machine" rusting truck and the "Toys" demos directly from the Nvidia ftp site located at ftp://download.nvidia.com/downloads/GeForceFX_Demos.

Any chance that somebody can/has hacked these to allow them to work on non-FX systems? Attempting to run the "Dawn" demo on my patched Radeon 9500 results in the following error message:

This program requires an NVIDIA GeForceFX-class GPU or better to run. (*note-I would have to classify my unlocked 9500 running 400/304 AS better so I don't know what the problem is. :) )
Unsupported features:
ARB_multisample
NV_primitive_restart
NV_vertex_array_range
NV_pixel_data_range
NV_fence
NV_register_combiners
NV_register_combiners2
NV_vertex_program
NV_fragment_program
WGL_EXT_allocate_memory

Nvidia demos wont run on Ati and Ati wont run on Nivida they just make them that way, I am sure it is very easy (for someone who knows what they are doing) to "hack" them to run on non brand gpus.
Thanks for the link I'll check it out.

I doubt it, there is a good chance that nVidia is using shader instructions that are too long for the R300 to handle properly for its demos. The NV30 core does have some advantages over the R300 and in all honesty nVidia would be rather foolish not to exploit them in their demos. That doesn't mean that they aren't intentionally blocking you from running it on nV hardware no matter if the board is capable or not(the ATi DX9 demos won't run on my R9500Pro).
