Actual distance ?

my house and my freinds house.

I am toying around with some ideas for WiFi Point-to-Point with a neighbor friend of mine.

We live about .9 driving miles away from one another, but there are a couple twists and turns.

I would like to determine our elevation differences as well.

What resources do I need to accomplish this ?

I was thinking GPS...

but maybe there are some other resources that could take our addresses as input ?

get a map and do some math with the scale of the map

Try to get a USGS topographical map of your area, but a road map would probably be fine. GPS would be best if you need a really accurate reading.

MapQuest is your friend.

Sorry, didn't read the complete post.
You need a GPS. It takes care of the elevation difference too.

Edit: Saw you edited your op. Anyway, yeah, the site I linked would be nice if it was a bit more exact.
