Actors who are regularly typecast

Do you agree with list? I certainly do. Adam Sandler is truly the epitome of actors who are typecast. Does this necessarily mean that the actors who are versatile and frequently perform in different roles are more talented or is it that these guys never got a lucky break and gave up on diversifying their performances a long time ago?

I'm not sure if I entirely agree with that list. The only actors I agree in that list is Michael Cera and Steve Carrell.

If the writer's going to go with a very selective list of roles that those actors have portrayed, then he's forgetting Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino (old version), Jason Stathom, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, Seth Rogan, Zach Galifianakis, etc..

And since the write is not being very specific of the roles (she plays all the crazy characters, he plays all the weird characters), then Johnny Depp should be in that list too (oh ya, he plays all the essentric characters).

you know why actors are typecast? because it's the only thing they do well. adam sandler makes his own movies, and he'll never deviate from the same retarded crap.

Zoey Deschanel.
As an annoying wise and beautiful woman. Which (near as I can tell) she really isnt.

And Michael Cera doesnt even have a career long enough to be typecast.
I agree Cameron Diaz is typecast even though only about half her roles qualify.

Jim Carrey. Too much Ace Ventura, not enough Eternal Sunshine.

And I don't actually know personally, but I'm under the impression John McGinley is.

Clint Eastwood bad ass in ever movie
His westerns bad ass outlaw
Dirty harry bad ass cop
Heartbreak Ridge bad ass Sargent.
Gran Torino Bad ass old man.

Steve Buscemi comes to mind as someone who is not typecast.

In Con Air, he's the creepy Ultimate Serial Killer.

In Armageddon, he's the Casanova Genius Geologist.

that's variety.

Wes Studi is probably the most typecast actor I know.

He is always, ALWAYS, an evil leader of a tribe and/or gang.

Magua: When the Grey Hair is dead, Magua will eat his heart. Before he dies, Magua will put his children under the knife, so the Grey Hair will know his seed is wiped out forever.

a man of his word.

he was a good guy in Heat - small role though.

Sean Connery always plays The Sean.

Bud Cort always goes to funerals. I can't think of single role Bud Cort played where he didn't go to at least one funeral.

Cameron Diaz for sure. that's because she has zero range, though. typecast totally deserved.

I will add Tony Shaloub.

and that Asian guy with the long hair that always plays the top henchman--you know, the last one to go before the boss--in every kung fu/action type flick. don't know his name. but you all know his face.
