Activesync 4.5 syncing problems with HTC 8525

So the Accounting President here at work just brought me his phone and told me it just goes in an endless loop of synchronizing. So I sent him back to his desk and damewared into his machine. First thing I did was upgrade him to 4.5. But the darn thing just keeps saying synchronizing forever until you stop it. Has anyone else ever had this issue. He really needs to sync his calendar because he has like 5 appointments everyday and needs to have it on the go.
