Active Virus Shield problems

I have a friend who is having problem with his AVS. I don't use it right now so I can't see if it's a system wide problem or just something on his end. Basically it says that the virus defs. are out of date and when he tries to udpate it, it says it's already updated. I had him uninstall it and then re-install it and I also generated a new code for him.

He just e-mailed me this morning telling me that the problem is back and that the program is also telling him the activation code is invalid.

Is anyone else having similar problems and is there a particular fix to this?

Sounds like someone is monderating his computer to the point that the program can not modify the registry to signify to the program that the program is up to date. This is my guess with the little information given.
