Active shooter in Colorado Springs

Scene not secure. Police telling media to stay out right now. Centennial area.

Edit. Police specifying it is "near a Planned Parenthood" location. Haven't said if that is specifically the location.

this doesn't smell like it's against planned parenthood. I don't think they know where the shooter is now. I think the PP building was just being cleared for tactical reasons.

I'm hoping this isn't just randomly targeting shoppers on Black Friday.

There have been all kinds of reports including one that said the gunman was shooting hostages. If that is true then the domestic terrorist angle is much less likely and foreign inspired terrorist is much more likely.

But, because the statements are all over the map it could be anything at this point. The original report indicated the Planned Parenthood location, but it looks to me that the actual scene is south of the medical building and in the strip mall about a quarter mile south.

We're 90+ minutes into this event and we know almost nothing -- strange.

I think it's just in the area. IIRC, there's a Veterans Hospital across the street or something, which also could be involved in the story. Some PP people were hiding in a closet, but that might just be because they have a certain amount of angst over something like this happening and not because they are being targeted.
 
Getting wild on the scanner feed. They are calling to shoot through the walls to take the guy out. He may in fact be in the PP building after all.

6 so far reported taken to hospital.

Edit. They can see him on the cameras in the building. Laying on the ground. This might be about to end. White male in a trench coat.

Now sitting in a chair with an AK 47

They drove the armored bearcat into the building and pulled out 3-7 hostages from the bathroom - that's awesome.

This is why the police have those tank looking vehicles that people that don't have a clue about police work complain about.
 
I think there is a possibility here that a politicized GOP witch hunt based on bullshit may have produced a body count here.

Threats to PP surged during and after that GOP show, warnings to the clinics were sent out for good reason. These places already have security too, you have to have an agenda to wade in I would imagine.

Right now my money is on the religious militia type - out to show their pro-life cred, rather than a muslim fundie. Time will tell though...
