Does anyone know of any issues adding 2 windows 2003 servers (one as an additional DC) to an existing windows 2000 active directory (in native mode)?

We are implementing 2 new web and email servers, and I wan't to put 2003 on them, but I have no plans to upgrade any of the remaining 27 2000 dc's. I assume that the domain and forest prep will handle everything ok.

If anyone has any information, or can point me to more than the readme files on the 2003 cd, I would appreciate it.

This is the way things are supposed to work, the Windows 2003 servers should be able to act as DCs for the directory it just means that you wont be able to make use of the extened schema attributes that 2K3 offers.

I havent done this either and probably will at some point, but before I do I plan on building a small domain with our test servers and than bringing into mixed 2K/2K3 so I have been through it before attempting it on our production directory.

I'm presently taking a Win 2000 Active Directory class (near the tail end now) and my instructor offers comments on Win 2003 here and there. I would imagine there shouldn't be any major issues other than Win 2003 is more "closed" out of the box, security wise. Specifically, he has mentioned the Everyone group in 2003 has read only privelages rather than Full Control. There are other numerous minor changes between 2000 and 2003. My instructer mockingly calls it Windows 2000.1, because it is so similar. Not the big changes like there were between NT 4.0 and 2000
