Active Directory Schema trouble.

After installing and setting up DNS (with dynamic updates as needed), and installing Active Directory (both test fine, and I can use the machine as a DNS server). I can not install Exchange, it gives an error about not having permissions to modify the Active directory Schema, I have made the registry entry needed and I am using this machine locally as Administrator. I have been made Schema Admin by the AD install.... so I'm really at a loss as to what the problem might be. I'm sure (well hoping at least), that this is a simple problem. Anyway I have installed/reinstalled everything several times except for the OS itself (Win2k SBS). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use a local account. You will want to use the a domain account that has domain admin privliges. Generally you would want to use "the" domain admin account to do something like this. If you have problems with that account, make sure it's a member of Schema and Enterprise Admins (it should be).

Thank you for the reply, basically I need to create a new account that is with the domain users and make it an admin for scheme, enterprise, domain, etc. Then log onto the server using that account? So, it wouldn't be a local account (like Administrator) but a new account for the domain?

The built in domain administrator account is a member of the domain admins, enterprise admins, and schema admins by default.
