Hello everyone,

I am running a single domain controller with Windows 2000 Server in a small office environment (~20 users). I am planning to migrate all users for Workgroup to the domain. I added the users in Active Directory Users and Computers and have successfully migrated a couple of them to the domain network.

My question is: Does Windows 2000 server have an application that allows the administrator to see which user is logged into the domain in real time?

I'm also trying to run Remote Control but when I go to Terminal Services Manager I do not see any users anywhere, only the administrator. I read that you can use Remote Control to Control or shadow the user at any given time. Can someone please help me? I greatly appreciate it!

if you have windows xp you can use Remote desktop to control the desktops remotely. if you have windows 2000 pro desktops you can use vnc. Terminal Server is to either administer the server remotely or to run software remotely on the server. as far as which users are logged in i have no idea. if you find out let me know. you could set up auditing but that would be a pain to read. good luck

Terminal Services Manager only lets you manage TS sessions on that machine (remote and console) or any other server on the Domain that you have enable TS sessions to.

Both the features you are looking for are very easy to do in SMS but that is probably out of your budget by a mile. The cheapest way to do it would be set up auditing so that user logins show up in your logs. Then script a log parser to pull the information out and make it easily readable. For remote viewing some of the VNC apps have support for view only and are free.

Hey, thanks a lot guys! Yeah, I just started learning Windows 2000 server like a few months ago and it's still pretty new to me. My background is actually in Biology and I mess around with computers as a hobby! I'm learning a lot though, thanks again!
