I have a windows nt 4.0 server that I upgraded to 2000 and then did a dcpromo to join it to our domain. I failed to notice that it had a different domain suffix (company.com :| ). Now I can't dcpromo to demote it because it gives me DSA DNS errors. I tried to fix the dns with no luck.

Can I manually remove it from the domain (using microsoft's methods), fix the domain suffix and dcpromo it back in without problems? Is there a better way?

I am worried about messing up the domains DNS, but I might be a little paranoid.
