The setup of my DNS/Active directory server is nearly ready to roll
but am wondering if what i want to do is going to work the way i have it thought out at the moment:-
I have a ISDN router which will have a static IP of 192.168.0.2 and has DHCP serving disabled.
The DNS/Active Directory server is also going to be setup as a DHCP server and will have a static IP address of 192.168.0.1. The scope for DHCP serving will be 192.168.0.3 - 192.168.0.9.
A gateway of 192.168.0.2 will be added to this server so it can access the net for updates.
All the clients will be changed over from "WORKGROUP" "name" to the "Client PC's name".mydomain.com (not broadcast to internet) with DNS address as 192.168.0.1 and IP obtained by DHCP.
The Gateway for each client will be 192.168.0.2 so they can access the internet direct from the router.
Will this work?
As im really new to this, would appreciate any criticism of my proposed above, and any advice would be gladly received on where i may be going wrong.
Thanx for your time,
rockhard =)
