active directory and circular logging w2k server

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with the log files that generate from AD in the c:\winnt\ntds folder. I don't feel comfortable with deleting the edb00001,2,3,4 etc. files. I have tried backing up the entire machine, no avail. Backing up system state should get rid of those log files from what I understand. It doesn't in my case. Also I find the registry hack of hkey_local_machine\current_system_state\services\parameters adding string circularlogging and entering value of 1, doesn't work either. I really don't want to install service pack 2. On a test machine I found that trying to move the log location didn't work and rendered the machine unable to boot. Had to fix in recovery console.

Any ideas out there? I am running out of room in the c: partition.

Thanks guys!
