Active Desktop Error

For some reason my computer suddenly restarted itself and is now giving me the following error - "Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This file is needed for your Active Desktop. To turn off the Active Desktop, click OK."

I have no clue what happened, and I'd like to get this fixed ASAP. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you very much.

what operating system?

also, irregardless of the operating system, try clicking to turn it off, then restarting the computer.

Because the Active Desktop could not find a data file that was required for it's use (from Internet Explorer), I figured that a re-install would put the data file back where it should be. I was right, and it worked.
