my friend is having a problem with his comp, and he wanted me to post this on the forums, so here is what he said:

i recently bought a case, an aspire x-dreamer. i put in all the parts from my old case into the new one. when it turned on, everything seemed to be going fine, until i realized that i had to press F1 to continue from the post screen to continue to login. it didnt seem like a big deal until i realized i needed to activate windows.....as soon as a login an error comes up saying i need to activate widows... so ther is no way avoiding it. anyways i though no big deal and i clicked on activate online, which seemed to work until it says "failed to establish connection". im wondering if thers something i have to do at the screen when it says that i dont have settings and i have to set them. please help!

first things first: activate via phone. once thats done, we deal with the cannot connect issue, and potentially an issue at the POST. If we knew what it says at the point the your friend has to press F1, that would be great.

I don't know, Windows did something goofy awhile back with there valadation stuff. If you used a slipstream copy of windows it may have been made in that time frame... I'd activate over the phone, then run windows update you'll have to get some windows validation software and everything... I had a similar problem.. updates did wonders

If it is a new build or a full reinstall of the OS, did you install the Mobo Chipset
Drivers and the Driver for your NIC Card ? ?
