i just got a copy of windows xp pro (legit oem copy), however, i didn't get it with a piece of hardware or a new pc. when i went to activate it online, it said that it couldn't be activated and i need to call MS.
so I call the number and speak the code. says it can't be activated and i need to talk to tech support. so i get some indian woman on the phone and get it activated.

am i cool now or is MS gonna come to my house and check on it? lol

i pretty sure i'm cool now, but has anyone else had an issue like this?

Once you're activated, that's all there is to it. Often, it's GETTING activated that's the problem (as it was in your case).
M$ isn't gonna go after you unless they have a valid reason to, i.e. if you're a reseller handing out illegal COAs or anything like that. But on your personal computer, for your personal use, they won't do anything - again, it's not worth their time.
