Anyone had any problems doing this? Just curious as I plan to build a gaming rig with no internet connection.

Thanks

Phone activation is no problem, however if you have no internet connection you'll miss out on a lot of Vista updates, not to meantion latest video drivers etc... for gaming.

Thanks for input folks......

My "plan" is to use this new rig for gaming only and my old rig for internet, burning game updates, driver updates etc.

I guess I'll see how it goes, I thought it might be cool to avoid having Norton, Zonealarm, AVG, Spybot etc etc etc on my gaming rig......don't know if those really hurt gaming performance but I guess we'll see.

Thanks

There are ways to prevent from being infected without using any system resources, such as a router with a hardware firewall, limited user accounts, keep windows updated and your programs, and full DEP.

AntiVir Free Edition uses about 10mb of ram and should not negatively impact your performance to a significant extent, but it is still active protection running on your system, so there will be a performance hit (but it will probably not be noticeable). See the detection rate test results of various antivirus products and if Antivir's popup is annoying you, PM me.
