Activating Spelling Check in IE 5.0???

I recently did a fresh install of Win98 SE. I cannot get spell check to work in IE 5.0. I have Microsoft Works and "Help" in IE 5.0 states that it can be used. I had no problem with Win95 as Microsoft Word was automatically recognized by IE 5.0 and it was used. Any suggestions???
