How To Activate XP offline

I have an old desk top with a few of my old games loaded onto it and after having to format my HDD I had to reload XP and now I need to activate XP again. Is there any way to do this with out going on line? I will get killed if I plug it into our router. 🙂

Depends if it's at least the SP1 version (or later).

I remember back in the day installing a pre-SP1 version with my LAN cable plugged in, and I got hit will malware/virus pop-ups left and right. To this day, it has been the only time I've ever experienced something like that.

That's what I thought to but my wife almost killed me when I went to hook it up. I guess it only takes a matter of minutes to corrupt the whole house. That's why I was was looking for another way to do it besides on line..

I dont even remember XP requiring internet to activate.
The key you got on the cd cover worked offline.
I know if you had problems, you could call up a number and they would give u a new key, as long as you provided them with a old one.
But that's the thing, you had to call, not activate online.

I dont see how you would get a malware during activation, unless your windows xp install cd was bad to begin with.

As I recall, you should have an activate icon in lower right. Clicking on that brings up the activation screen (which has the Installation Identifier, IDD) needed by MS to issue you (over the phone) the needed Confirmation Identifier, CID for activation.
