I have an Actiontec GT701-WG DSL "modem" that works fine (Qwest sucks).
The tech support said "if you hook the ethernet out to a hub, it will give you grief and the only way to get good functioning will be to take out the hub and just go to a single pc. If you need more pc's use the wireless."
This seemed correct, I saw problems. I would just lose my connection even though everything looked ok (green lights). If I power cycled the modem, it would come back for a while (a few hours) then back to the problem.
I'm wondering if I used a "Linksys "Network Everywhere" 4 port router" instead of the hub if I could then run more pc's off the router?
My limited knowledge of networking tells me the router will "look like" a single address to the Actiontec and not give the problems I saw with the hub.
Thanks for any help!
