Action Pack Version of SBS2003

I have an Action Pack Version of SBS2003 and was wondering if there are any limitations to it? and/or how many CALs it includes?

Thanks.

The SBS 2003 Action Pack versions are Not-For-Resale and Not-For-Distribution, so they can't be sold or given away and, if the annual licensing fee is not paid, they must be uninstalled. They are for business use, training, and demonstration by the Action Pack licensee. You can read all the licensing details on the MS Partner pages on Microsoft's site.

Their EULA gives the other license terms, which are the standard SBS terms.

They come with 5 built-in licenses and there's a certificate in the Action Pack for five addtiional licenses.

Sooo....what else did you need to know? All the Action Pack stuff is, basically, the "Retail" versions. They key numbers SEEM to be special and have limits on the number of re-uses. But a phone call to MS seems to fix any license key issues.

I meant I knew all the "not for resale..." stuff. The CAL stuff, as you answered was what I was after... so THANKS!

Now I can't decicde on if I should use this on my home network or not....

You can do so as long as you are not making money on it. It can be considered a long term training. If you are selling web services or selling junk on ebay etc... then you need to have the normal retail/oem route. And rebatemonger has the licencing issue right on...

Well, I certainly like my home's SBS 2003 Premium Edition server. It makes a great router and firewall! But I suggest reading a good book on it before installing it.

Without doing that, everybody makes installation mistakes the first couple of times they do an install of SBS. I know. I fix them all the time for new clients who've done the install themselves or paid somebody who "learned" SBS on their client's time.

heh well you already helped me with SBS in a previous thread 🙂 I installed it at a clients office (well my Father-in-laws) and its working BEAUTIFULLY for them and I simply loved it.

Not quite sure of the advantages for me to use it at home though... still debating.
