Rolling eyes, huffing & puffing, heavy sighs, sucking your teeth, pppffffting with your arms folded, etc.

Do you do these things during work meetings?

I don't. I find them pretty awful and unprofessional frankly. When stating the facts or the situation at hand, I try to keep it free of negative emotion & negative behavior as best as possible.

I've seen people who present and listen act in this manner.

i don't.

but i also think that having any meeting last longer than 1 hour is useless and a waste of time. if you need more than 1 hour, split it into two multiple meetings.

i can see why people would start to feel antsy and aggravated after a meeting lasting longer than that. i know i do but i just don't show it because i'm rarely in that situation.

Oh yeah, if it's long meetings with no breaks, yes people can and will rightly get antsy.

I'm talking about when someone states; "Q1 projections are expected to be met" and someone reacts with "Tsk,... yeah, OK."

It might be ok in some work places but most of the time it's done in an nonconsecutive manner. Depending on the persons age I'd fire them on the spot for this crap.

Yes because half of the meetings I'm forced to attend have nothing to do with me and they're a complete and utter waste of my time. But not with anything verbal, I just get fidgety and I play with my phone.

I'm not acting like a prick in meetings, not the place.

BUT

If the participants don't take the subject seriously or are just getting annoyed i'll let go some comments or just a brief but clear look at them.

I ok to sigh but please come back with an idea or solution after the annoying breath-out...

Fully depends on the work environment.

We do that shit on our team all the time, but mostly because we know how complete BS and a waste of time the mandatory meetings are.

Numbers in meetings never conform to actual reality.

worked with a guy like that once... he was also super argumentative to anyone who dared to disagree with anything he ever said.

it got to the point where we'd just let him ramble on, say yes to his face, and then do whatever we were going to do anyways afterward.

god knows how he got hired as a supervisor in the first place... us worker bee grunts had a party when he finally got himself fired (he asked to take vacation... boss said no, because a) two other people were already scheduled to be out that week and b) he was out of vacation time. when the week arrived, he ended up calling out "sick" every day and was canned upon his return)

And then be open to a lawsuit once they find this post that says you fired them because of their age.

Generally no, but I am sure I have slipped into that mode during some long, really stupid ones.

So yes, actually, quite often.

I've said it a million times:

During a meeting I pick a spot on the wall and stare at it. Its worked very well for me over the years.

I guess it depends on what the meeting is about, I've been in 90 minute meetings that could have been easily been replaced with a well written email. I personally like to be in meetings, it's less time at my desk, but I could see how someone would act like that.

I'll call them out on it. Nothing like a "Am I annoying you or saying something you disagree with?" in the middle of a meeting. Gets things going :D

I don't do anything douchey, but I definitely zone out sometimes.

There have been at least a couple of occasions when someone has caught me falling asleep too.

Ehh, I will speak loudly, or comment when somebody asks the same question for the 3rd time who either wasnt paying attention or is too stupid to understand the answer. I have given up on trying to preserve the feelings of all. Feelings do not matter, results matter.

No, but I've slammed my head on the table before. :D

This was in one of my bosses meeting and got a good laugh, so no worries.

I don't miss our Monday after-lunch meetings when I was in IT. Those sucked. Basically it was about 2 hours of the IT manager telling us everything we did wrong the week before. Basically a bash fest. Then there was a section where we had to say what we did all week, basically we had to justify our jobs. It was never enough for him, then he'd bash us more on the individual level. Then move on to the next person.

Actually you know that hitler meme? That was basically our meetings but 2 hours of that. Pretty much had to stay still and serious or you'd get dirty looks, too. No food or drink was allowed. Well, it was not an actual rule but it was frowned upon. One time someone brought donuts, was told to never do that again.
