ACT! 6.0

To those who are familar or use ACT! 6.0

How is this different than say, OUTLOOK?
I was told to look into getting this program, to manage contacts and resumes/coverletters I send out to people. Its an easy way to manage this stuff a few people told me, but it seems from what I read, a lot like Outlook.

It is like Outlook on steroids but it is really a sales tool. I don't see why you would need it for resumes but it is indespensible for me in an office setting.

I believe ACT! 6.0 has an Outlook plugin that lets you manage the ACT! database from within Outlook. I don't use it at home, but my dad uses it at the office where they have something around 3000+ contacts and believe me, Outlook will be very inneficient to handle that load.

Anybody know of a free program to transfer contacts with the notes from ACT 6.0 to Outlook?
