How thick do they usually make the acrylic, i wanna know so i can know what tools i need if i want to mod a case that im most likely going to get

It is very hard to cleany cut acrlyic unless you have some very high quality cutting tools.
I tried cutting a sheet of acrylic with a band saw...the edges came out raggedy and chipped.

I have a thin 1/16" piece of lexan and it responded well to a hand drill and a nibbler surprisingly. Plexi shattered upon this method.

plexi is really hard to work with... I tried making a case window... I ended up using a hand saw to saw it off slowly and then use drillbit to make the size.. I had to go from smallest to big.. becareful when drilling it can crack it easily.

well there are different techniques recomended for different thickness, i was planing bit and using it at low rpms to get it done,

Usually the thickness varies from 1/16" (pretty thin) to 1/4". I would say 1/8" is fairly common. You can buy whatever thickness you want though, if your making your own panels.

You also want high rpm's, much cleaner cutting. You can use a router w/ a carbide bit, or a Dremel, which has pretty high rpm's (close to a router which is ~ 20,000).
