Acrylic panels on a metal case

A few months ago I found an article where someone put clear acrylic panels on a regular metal case. Having recently aquired an old gayway full tower (ugly, nicotine stained, rusty, dirty, and not to mention smelly), I decided to replace the one-peice sides/top panel and the ugly plastic front panel with clear acrylic.

I know where to get the acrylic (local hardware store or Home Depot), and I know how to cut it, but I want to find that article I read a few months ago. It was a mid tower case and the guy made side, top, and front panels, then sprayed it with something that gives it a frosted look. He also put a bunch of LEDs and stuff in it so the whole thing glowed. Does anyone remember reading that article? If so where was it?

Oh, and any tips you might have on this would be appreciated.

Thanks! :)

Umm, I'm not doing a window here. I'm making new panels out of acrylic. As in the old one peice metal panel is in the closet never to be used again. The front, top, and sides will be made out of clear acrylic, and there was an article where someone did just that, so I'd like to go over it before I start.

I think I saw something like that over at VH. you know, I'm not even gonna think about doing something like that, but if I were, I'd go with something very simple like a sheet of acrylic the same size as my panel, attach 2, maybe 3 small hinges. done! and maybe a locking thing on the back.

good luck with your project. please post pics when completed.

My bad then. I'm not sure how you would go by putting the acrylic panels on except for to cut and drill slow, but here's a full acrylic case modded

Okay, how about this, someone made an acrylic case, I'm sure you can borrow something from it.

Thanks. I already found that, Bit-Tech was the first place I checked. I guess I'll just have to do without that article... That's okay because the hardest part is cutting the acrylic straight and smooth, I can firgure out how to attach it myself.

Good luck Dud3. That looks like a lot of work. I hope you'll post pictures when you're done.
