I just backed up a HDD using "Backup" Backing it up to a spare HDD. Can I boot from this disk like a "Clone". Or what needs to be done to convert the backup to a clone?

Thanks.

No, such a backup file is not useable or viewable directly. It must be restored using the same software that created it. Youcan't convert it. Your best bet is to clone the original HDD you "backed up" to the same drive. It will be overwritten and the cloned drive will be immediately useful.

Ok. It wasnt exactly wasted time. Did plenty of things while backing it up. Restarting the backup as a "clone".

Regular Acronis backUp is saved as a tib file that can be restored to any Drive that is the same or larger in capacity than the original.

The file can be mounted as a data drive and files can be copied out of it, but it can be used as a boot from file drive.

To be able to boot a Drive the original has to clone directly onto the original while both are connected to the same computer.
