Acronis TI 8 SLOW Restore?

Hello ALL:

I used Acronis TI8 to do a full image of a 160GB NTFS drive with about 18GB of data to another PC on my LAN.

I got the BSOD on a SP2 Upgrade and am restoring over my LAN. I know about backing out the sp2 stuff, but it did not work.

Anyway, it says it will take >1 DAY to restore. I had to boot the Acronis CD to get started and all seems OK but >1 day to restore is just BAD!

Any other solution for the future? Do those external USB hard drives work? Also, what software would recover an image from them if there is no OS available?
