acronis and ssd

I have a vertex 2 with windows 7 64bit. I've always used acronis or windows 7 backup to image the OS drive.

Recently I had to use that image back onto a vertex 2. An issue arise after Windows 7 updates was downloaded. After the prompt to reboot, the install of the updates stalled at 30%. It hung like that for 15 minutes. I shutdown the PC manually and restarted it again. Same thing, hung at 30%.

I had the same exact issue with another PC with a vertex 2 which was re-imaged a while ago. Does anyone know if it is because I used an image?

I've gotten a lot of valuable information from everyone on this forum. Thank you in advance.

I don't know the answer to your question specifically, but there are a lot of variables in there. Do you know if the image itself is ok? Most likely it is, but testing it on another disk is probably where I would start.

The other vertex2 machine, was that a different image? Do you know what updates you were installing?

Edit: To be clear, its possible using an image is causing your problems, but that's not normal behavior imo. I've imaged ssd's several times using the win 7 restore tool (the image was created using the win 7 utility after a fresh install on a ssd). I've done this on an Intel 310 and an m4, and they're both totally solid AFAIK.
