HI

when i open a pdf within ie5 it open fairly promptly but if i open the same document from within firefox 0.93 [my default broswer now] it takes an age to load.
do i need to reinstall acrobat reader for firefox or something to sort the speed out?

Go to the folder where you installed Acrobat. Make a backup of the \Reader\plug_ins\ folder. Then open the plug_ins folder and delete the following:

Printme folder
EWH32.api
printme.api
Search5.api
Search.api
reflow.api

That should allow it to start significantly quicker by not loading all of the plug ins that are almost never used. You can still print and search the pdf document. If any features are disabled that you need/want, just copy them from the backup plugins folder to the original one.

there was also a utility that speeds up acrobat but my point is that i dont have a problem with the speed it loads up at when opening a pdf offline, or when opening a pdf from within IE5 when online, just when i open one while browsing with firefox...

can't speak for O2brew's suggestions, but my solution: uninstall Acrobat Reader 6. Went back to 5.0 and it flies with FF...

dang i thought you might say that - i held off upgrading to 6 for ages for that same reason...
maybe i better give that speedup utility a whirl.

EDIT: it worked!

Same here. I always load 5.05 on any new builds. Much less bloat and much quicker load times.
