I have a PDF that I'm trying to type in that a company sent me, and when I try to type on the keyboard it won't put any text in the PDF.

I checked the security on the PDF and there isn't anything and it shows everything is allowed.

Why won't Acrobat Pro 9 Extended let me type in the form?

THANKS

PDF is not intended as an editing platform.

Making a file a PDF automatically mean it will do everything you're expecting it to. Like any other format, companies sending people PDFs often don't understand what they're using and how to make it function hassle-free for end users (you).

If the creator/sender of the PDF didn't add form fields, there's nothing to "fill in". You'll either need to add them yourself (you have the capability with Pro) or have them do it.

It's very chic these days to bash Acrobat and suggest one of the myriad alternatives, but for people to suggest you purchase another $99 piece of software to replace the perfectly functional one you have is just not intelligent. Some of the alternatives are quite workable for some people, but you've already got the tools you need.

If you need, I can help you get your form completed in a number of ways. Feel free to PM me.

I never said he should buy it. They offer a TRIAL download .. try it .. if it does what you want, how you want it, then it is up to the USER to decide if they want to buy it. Personally, I think Adobe is now crap .. has been since after V6 .. Bloated & very costly.

I didn't, on my single-click, see a trial version and still don't, not that it matters.

I'll agree there's a huge amount of bloat in current versions, and I'll even agree v6 was the last nice, streamlined version. Since then it's been feature adds to make things more novice-friendly with generally poor results, in my opinion.

I simply can't, in good conscience, suggest someone dump software they have that will more than adequately do the job they're after. For my segment of the business, Acrobat Pro is the only way to go, bloat or no bloat.
