Is there any way to get Acrobat 7.0 to just open 1 window instead of 2 when a PDF is opened? It's kinda irritating that Ctrl-Tab still brings me to the same window, and switching between 2 opened PDFs takes a Ctrl-Tab-Tab as well. What's up with the taskbar clutter?

Also, how do I get PDFs in Firefox to open within the browser instead of a dedicated window?

And also, when I have >1 PDF window open and I close one, the whole Acrobat program just closes rather than just that window.

Mine doesn't do that. But, I hardly ever open two files at once. I did it to see what you are talking about - and Ctrl-Tab simple changes from one to the other. One becomes active and the other inactive. That's about normal. ???

If I open one PDF file, then there is only one window. Looks the same as 6, 5, or 4 did from that respect.

Yes - there are lots more tool icons showing. But, the tool bars can be hidden so none show. You can also have them show text labels as well as the icon. I don't find a customization option for the toolbars.

Well, when I open 1 PDF, although taskbar only shows 1 window open, when I Alt-Tab to another program, I actually Alt-Tab to another Acrobat application which is the same window. It's sorta like a parent-child Acrobat window, not sure if that's the correct way of describing it.

Hmmn, I guess this only happens in certain cases. I just opened a PDF file on my website and it opened in the browser window. Opening a local PDF file also created only 1 Acrobat window. However, some PDF links on websites happen to exhibit the problem I described. For example, all the PDF files on this site exhibit the problem.
