zinfamous I have never read or seen anywhere that says Hershey's cannot call what they sell chocolate. They sell a various variety of chocolates all of which are branded as such.

some of their chocolates are still called chocolate, some of them are not.

that's because they're not chocolate? honestly don't understand the logic of bringing it up. hell MILK CHOCOLATE isn't chocolate it's MILK CHOCOLATE so if you count shit like that, sure.

Hershey's changed their recipes a few years ago, replacing cocoa butter with vegetable oil on a few of their candies (not for regular Hershey bars). The reformulated ones can't be called "chocolate," just "chocolatey." It looks like they only changed Mr. Goodbar, Krackel, Whatchamacallit, Milk Duds, and Kissables (not regular Kisses):

I hate all Hershey's chocolate anyway, both the real stuff and the fake stuff, but it looks like the only ones to get the reformulated chocolate-like substitute are pretty unpopular as it is.

c/p here:

What’s going on here? On Friday, TODAY consumer correspondent Janice Lieberman reported that Hershey’s has switched to less expensive ingredients in several of its products. In particular, cocoa butter — the ingredient famous for giving chocolate its creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture — has been replaced with vegetable oil.

The removal of cocoa butter violates the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s definition of milk chocolate, so subtle changes have appeared on the labels of the Hershey’s products with altered recipes. Products once labeled “milk chocolate” now say “chocolate candy,” “made with chocolate” or “chocolatey.”

Well yeah I read that and it makes sense, I wouldn't consider that shit chocolate either. That's why they don't call it that and they use other terms. If stupid consumers fall for it, that's their fault. I honestly don't eat a lot of candy and when I do I go for something sour.

Mogul Madness?????

I hope this is the same as their Mogul Ale which was discontinued way back in 02 or something. That is one of my favorite freaking beers ever.

Must.
Look
for
beer........

That's what they call it on the menu (first page, left column)
http://staugustinesvancouver.com/docs/TapsMenu.pdf

I was impressed by the Mogul Madness. Very good beer.

My friend had the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout (not on this particular menu), which I highly recommend.

Chai and Roiboos are the shit, and you don't need any milk or flavoring for those.

Chai is brewed with milk, fer crissakes. It contains milk a priori.

Chai is basically black tea brewed with selected spices and milk.

hell MILK CHOCOLATE isn't chocolate it's MILK CHOCOLATE so if you count shit like that, sure.

Milk chocolate IS chocolate. Dark chocolate is simply chocolate without any milk added. Both milk chocolate and dark chocolate are chocolate.

Whoever said this thread sucks is spot on.

It's very premise is emblematic of how far the knowledge and intelligence of the general OT poster has declined over the years.

OT began as the off topic meeting place for what were largely adult computer enthusiasts.

Now it's a stationary short bus infested by posters whose blithe self-confidence and near-bulletproof levels of self-esteem are outstripped only by their appalling basic ignorance.

I feel like acquired taste in some cases just means that you're able to take it. Beer is a perfect example. I never understood how my dad could drink it when I was young. Now, I don't exactly think it tastes good, but it isn't particularly bad anymore either.

milk chocolate is not chocolate it's a form of chocolate and the semantics matter, that's why they can't advertise it as chocolate. btw not that I have much issue with you Perknose, but you really want to rag on the knowledge and intelligence of the OT poster yet you post garbage like your "breaking story" thread in P&N? Please....

By the intended definition, I would disagree, because there are some things that you like better as a adult.

But I think thats mostly a byproduct of adults losing their sense of taste slowly so they don't notice really strong or crappy flavots as much.

But as for the common usage, its true. I don't care what you fucking tell me. Bud Light tastes like shit, Sprite in Grey Goose is not a squired taste, its fucking terrible, and I don't care how much you diluted the vodka in ice tea and you can't taste it, your taste buds have been shot from too much college drinking, because I can taste the alcohol.

Alcohol makes me gag, which is a problem when during social events with older people, I have to drink with them. Chugging seems to help.

Their "premium" brands are meh and I've smoked better Chinese cigs than European cigs that are 1/10th the price. American Spirit > almost all European cigs I've smoked. I can't comment on pipe tobacco because I don't smoke out of a pipe and I don't really much like oral tobacco, but of course Swedish snus is going to be better than American snus, they invented the stuff we're just NOW getting around to it. I have no experience with chews or other oral tobacco from Europe because I honestly just don't care for it.

Its weird cos your post is kind of proving him right. You're just saying 'I don't like that foreign stuff just give me the stuff I'm used to'.

Now I gave up smoking some years ago, but I used to love travelling round Europe (yeah OK, I'm from the UK which is technically in Europe, but only technically) and trying out all the different tobaccos. I didnt like them all, but they were all very different and some of them I still miss now.(French black tobacco and Turkish sweet stuff).

Bollocks.

I got given some 100% dark chocolate at xmas. If all chocolate was sold like that hardly anyone would buy it. It tastes vaguely like chewing coffee beans.

I kind of like it, but only about 1 square a night.

I have smoked a lot of foreign tobacco, I find American Spirits to be better, although my favorite I've smoked are Chinese. My co-worker got some smokes that are for government officials in China, they were embossed with gold and each had their own serial number. Incredibly strong nicotine wise, full flavor although incredibly smooth. I'm also a fan of Turkish tobacco, but like I said I prefer American Spirits.

I'm just talking semantics. Chocolate would be like all encompassing, whereas milk chocolate is a specific. That said I'd rather chew coffee beans :p

Don't try arguing with him. His views on what is or isn't something are...interesting. To say the least. Just ask him about beans in chili.

100% That's pretty hardcore. I could see it being good with coffee or something, but not to just eat. ~85% is about the highest I go with chocolate.
