ACPI vs CPU temperature...help needed

If I disable ACPI in the BIOS, my CPU temperature in windows rises with 20°C (as if windows is constantly running something). Is this normal??
If I run cooling software it returns to it's normal operating temperature.

Can someone check this on his computer?? Just disable ACPI in BIOS and start windows (windows does ask for the location of the drivers...all the drivers on windows cdrom should be stored on the HD you're booting from), then you must check for your temperature and compare it to when ACPI is enabled.

I would really appreciate it if someone would test this.

Yes it's normal, by disabling ACPI it also stops sending halt commands to your CPU when it is idle. In other words, you cpu is always going to be active even though it is doing nothing. Hence, this is why you need cpu cooling software to reach temperatures of when you were under ACPI.The cooling software sends those same halt commands to your cpu. But under ACPI you would not need those cooling software since it is a part of ACPI, otherwise it would be redundant and just take up more memory.

Ewu: Would having ACPI disabled be whats making my cpu idle heaps high?

Like when I boot up, it idles at 20%. When I move my mouse constantly it idles lower like 7-10%. Then when I stop it goes higher than 20% up to 30 or so.

Another example, I start up a program and use it, e.g. word or winamp, it idles lower about 10-15%. When I quit out of it, it idles higher, about 50.

One more example, when I run quake3 and then quit, it idles even higher at 70%.
