acoustical insulation

We're planning on making a home theatre type of room in our basement and I'd like to put up some acoustical insulation to both dampen sound going to the rest of the house and to provide better acoustics within the room itself.

Does anyone have any experience with this material and would suggest to me particular brands or products and how you install them (is it just like installing regular thermal insulation?)

I think cork is a common sound dampner.

i know, i've seen some at home depot before. it goes up in sheets, just like normal wall insulation, and as long as you've got some minor experience doing construction type work, you should be fine doing it yourself

Would dynamat work? It's a bit expensive however~
