anyone know of any good deals on acoustic guitars (for a gift) ? We're thinking something in the $150 range. A few names mentioned to me... Ibanez, Ovation, & Washburn.

I'll mention Yamaha as I always do :)
I learned to play on a Yamaha acoustic, and have played a few entry models since then, and they've always been pretty decent.

^ but can a good one be had in that price range ? Is $150 a good price for an acoustic guitar ? My brother plays in a band (electric guitar) and he bought an Ibanez acoustic pack for ~$100... so I'm thinking... why didn't he buy better ? Is that already high ?

I could have sworn I saw a Hot Deal that Jokersmoker posted recently for a few $99 acoustics with free shipping. Let me see if I can find it.

I will be selling my acoustic soon....It's a mint condition Ibanez (I played it only around 5 times), I think. I bought it two years ago, but I lost the recipt, so I could not return it. It has been sitting in my closet back home for all this time. I forgot the reason why I wanted to return it (and the reason I bought it and I wa salso playing it a few weeks back and I do not see what i do not like about it), but I know I bought a another acoustic about 6 months later. I think the top may be solid, also....

PM me if you want it....and i will take out thsi week end and send you some pics and possibly sell it to you earier than i wanted to:)

If you can get one of those for $150, let me know. ;)

I'd recommend an Ibanez PF5 for a starter. However, I've hated every entry level guitar I've ever played. Ibanez was the lesser of the evils.

I've got an Ibanez PF3 and a PF5 that I'm in love with. Great guitars. Great sound. Great price. And if you eff it up (i take mine out to coffee shops/bars all the time) and if it gets jacked up, its only $200.

Gibson SJ-200 Historic $2759

I played one of those at Mars Music when it was still open here... played like a dream, almost like it was playing itself.

For a little more money, you might as well buy quality :)
The amazing thin is that a real musician can make that ~$100.00 guitar sound like the $80K guitar but only a beginner can make an $80K guitar sound like a sub $100.00.

BUy the combo / budget pak until they advance or outgrow. Most guitars end up in closets 2 months after Christmas.
