ive been reading online, this looks to be better than blowing money on an sb live from what i read. Does this really give 5.1 output on any combo of speakers ? This is freaking cool. So i can buy like a decent 2 speaker setup and use my 2 little spearers ditch my subwoofer thats usuing em and set up 4 point sound that works well ?? also
anywhere online where I can get it less than 100 $ like con Usa has it ?

yes it has 5.1 out on analog instead of digital only on Live. (meaning you have to get receiver for most speakers to use it) plus it sounds better and has cool effects and such. i don't like proprietory creative stuff anymore. i still regret getting their dvd drive+card

sblive 5.1 has 6 analog outs, not only digital

the acoustic edge does have cool effects, but it has strange problems for me in windows 2000

i bought mine at www.emscomputing.com (it was $90 at the time i think, i haven't checked recently) and later bought a sblive 5.1 because of the ae's win2k problems

The AE is a pretty good card, but don't expect it to work in an SMP setup. I've heard of similar problems with live drives though.

your not going to get real 5.1 on anything less than a 5.1 speaker set... 5 satelites and a sub.. heh id like to see AE turn my HP altec lansing speakers into 5.1 ..

That's the mini-jack, which is 6 discrete digital streams (3xPCM), the SBLive! 5.1 supports 5.1 analog output as well.

But I'd say the AE is a better card.
