Took a chance today on a "good deal" - a a Firewire external 24X CD/RW drive by Acomdata . . . with rebate and in store knock-off . . . $179.95. Not a bad price, so I took a chance. So far it rocks! Have burned 5 CDs "on the fly" without a hiccup.
Setup in XP Pro was too easy. No drivers, no diskettes or CD needed. Just run the 6x6 1394 cable from the computer to the Acom drive and hot plugged it. XP saw it immediately and assigned even the correct crive letter. So, I copied 5 CDs on the fly with not a single hiccup or burp. Like all my other Firewire devices, this was a pure plug and play success story.
