I have heard many people say that large doses of B6 help acne. I also think that E helps your skin in general.

Dude, if the erythromycin doesnt do the job, you need accutaine.

If you are teenager, it might be hard to get accutainefrom a Dr, since the government over-reacted when some teens killed themselves while taking accutaine.

Accutaine is also one of the greatest teratogens on the drug market.

Vitamin A helps to cure acne. Although large doses can be very harmful. I wouldn't suggest more than 2 times the daily recommended value.

Drink plenty of water, take Vitamin E and B-complex.

That should help. Retnin (sp?), which is a form of Vitamin A is good for putting on the actual blemishes, according to a dermotologist I went to 5 years ago.

Good luck.

I also suggest using exfolliating face washes. They're the ones with small granules in them that help scrub away dead skin and help clear up your pores.

What kind of acne do you have? And why do you have it?

If the kind you have is the red bumps that hurt when you touch it, then that's SERIOUS acne and you should see a doctor for accutane. If you have acne because your face is oily, you should see a doctor for accutane. If you have acne because of poor hygiene (ie, keep touching your face, never wash it, etc etc) then try washing your face at least twice a day.

When I was younger, I used to have an extremely oily face and my whole face was covered in those red bumps. It hurted like a mofo. I went through retin A (both gel and cream), antibiotics, over the counter, etc etc, but after being on accutane for about 3 months, that solved the problem. However, it is a dangerous drug as my side effects ranged from dry lips and mouth to bleeding nose, rashes, and minor headaches.

I think you mean B5 aka Pantothenic ACID. It works wonders. Forget the harsh, expensive pharmaceutical's. Get a load of B5. Start off by taking 1gram a day, slowly increase it to whatever is necessary. I was taking as much as 5grams a day, which is 10, 500mg pills. It's a lot, but well worth it. If you worried that taking that much would affect your liver or kindey's, it won't, it's water soluble. Any excess will just be evacuated with your pee!

It completely cleared my face in about 8 months. Your mileage may vary, but it does work better then any over the counter crap out there. Most derm's won't even mention it.

I swear by it.

Yeah, I got acne too. It occurs sporadically. I hate it. I might try some of these suggestions and see what happens. I don't think I will try acutaine, though. One of my friends is on it and he just seems to be behaving different. Might just be him though. Well, thanks again for the suggestions. :)

I was my face every day and use alcohol on it twice a day. Just for some reason I still get them and I'm 23 so its not the teenage years thing.

I'm 21 and had mild acne pretty much since I was 15-16 until a few months ago.

I used to try everything - washing my face 3-4 times a day with Dove soap mildly, not to rub. Sometimes applying alcohol or other acne medications. They mostly just dried up my skin.

I started taking some "Centrum" all-in-one vitamins and I almost NEVER have acne anymore and I notice my skin in general seems much more healthy. I wash my face maybe 1-2 times a day now and it's fine.

I highly recommend getting some all-in-one vitamins if you haven't tried that yet. It worked great for me.

i was told once by a dermatologist (2years ago) to avoid taking vitamin supplements, especially B12, because it could induce acne in some people.

My advice: drink plenty of water, no coke or other synthetic juices. Also use skin moisturizer (OIL FREE) since your body develops oil where it is the dryest (however it overdoes it) and thats why you got some very oily parts sometimes:(
Hope it helps.
