At around the age of 25( im 30 now) i start developing acne. And i dont know what to do to stop it.Im going to visit ANOTHER doctor and im just sick of it.Iv been to to use ACCUTANE but i refuse to use this product who seem to have 75 side effects.

I have acne on the neck, face, shoulder, back, torso, even sometime on my forearms( yeah very strange )

I tough one it could be related to any kind of sexual diesese, but not, after THREE test, im fully clean.

The thing is that this acne doesnt look like the acne when i was 15( i was just having a little when i was young ).A normal acne, you know, you squish it, and after a week it dissapear without leaving mark.Well this acne is very strange. All the spots look like the same( little red dot with white in the middle, but after i destroy it, i can stay mark for about a month or two by this spot.

So yeah since im 20-22 my body changed a bit,but id like to know if you changed the same thing as me and start also developing acne.

Cleaning twice a day and changing brand of soap also didnt do anything good.( well in my case)

Here is a pic that show my acne a bit( dont worry its just my shoulder :p )

IF YOU GOT QUESTIONS you want me to list in the pool tell me.

Thanks in advance, maybe we can help each other out with this poll.

If i come up with other questions too, ill add them so check regularly.

ALSO if you are like 22-23 and seem also to have start developing acne, answer the test too plz.And plz if you dont have ance at all, dont answer plz.Id like to keep this pool as clean as possible for good answers.

I am over 25. I used to have bad acne, but it's gotten much better over the years. I don't qualify for your thread, and so I won't respond. However, at 27 I do sometimes get zits but they are 99% attributed to stress. In fact they're so linked to it that if I have a breakout mrsskoorb knows i'm under stress.

FWIW, when I had acne as a teenager, there was nothing that affected it. I didn't have coffee or icecream. I got my vegetables. I was not overweight. I did drink a lot of milk. I didn't get much sun (it would temporarily subside the zits, but that's it). I had lots of diet pepsi. No on the sex thing. I have moderate difficulty getting a tan. I didn't consume dinners and I didn't eat fast food. Essentially I was perfect, including washing my face, but nothing helped my acne besides age (and acutane, for a while, which I strongly recommend against).

That looks like normal acne with whiteheads to me. They may 'scar' longer, because of your age, and your skin ability to heal/rejuvenate itself as it did when you were 15.

Accutane helped me tremendously... but it wasn't permanent... in about 2 years, it came back, and i required a 2nd treatment of Accutane. The second treatment was extremely harsh (first one wasn't bad), and i told myself if the acne ever came back, i wouldn't go on it a 2nd time... it did come back even after the 2nd treatment. But i guess i've grown out of it, because i get maybe one every 6 months now.

I highly doubt your acne is due to anything sexual. Much of acne is caused by hormones (and their effects on the sabaceous glands)... and hormones levels in your body can change as early as your 20s. Are you losing hair? If you are, it could be an indication that you have excess testosterone (it causes balding, but hair growth in other parts of the body)... which would help explain the acne.

But other things could affect acne too, like stress. I also noticed you said you change soaps twice... how often do you use these soaps? And what kind of soaps are they? You definitely don't want to be over washing... some people seem to think that having no oil is the key... but that only causes your sabaceous glands to act up more, producing more oil to protect the skin... but if the glands are having problems as it is releasing the oil properly onto your skin, and instead clogging and causing a pimple, it's not going to help, and infact cause more problems, if it's producing more oil because you're overdrying your skin.

you need to add the options of "i don't have acne or i'm under 25" or you will get people answering your polls who don't have the demographic you require.

Holy crap. Your experience mirrored mine exactly, except replace 2 years with 6 months. EXACT same experience. First was ok, worked ok, but it came back. I did a second round on a higher dose and could not finish it due to side effects. That was years ago and I regret putting my body through such a serious and brutal medicine for something that WILL go away with age.

Yhea it will go away with age, but having 30 years old and having acne like this is hard to live with. You know when you 15 and have a little, you know at around 20 its over..but no.Me it start at around 25 and it just dont stop.

I had a similar looking outbreak about 20 years ago. I was diagnosed with a staph infection and took antibiotics for 4 months to get rid of it. I also had some soreness in my joints when this occured...

I'm assuming this is for your body right? The soap i mean... because you definitely shouldn't be using Lever 2000 or Ivory on your face, despite what the commercial shows you. If they're not comedomic (which i bet they are), they're at least overdrying your face.

Accutane was a miracle drug for me the first time... but like i said, it did come back eventually. My advice if you're going to use Accutane is to not only have a good doc, but to ALWAYS ALWAYS keep your face moist. Carry moisturizer where-ever you go, and keep it moist all the time. You might break out initially (most people seem to, i never do for some reason), but continue keeping your face moist.

Accutane should be a last resort though... i see some people doing some really stupid stuff with it... like taking accutane with anabolic steroids at the same time... accutane is hard enough on the liver, and then you're going to throw steroids in as well? Even if it's injectable and bypasses the liver, i still wouldn't risk it. I wouldn't drink too often on accutane either.

I would suggest a book called the The Acne Cure. It's a very thin book written in very big type, so you can probably read it in an hr or two... i read it in the bookstore myself. It explains why acne happens, and a solution to it... if you look at all the acne treatments these days, include ProActive, it pretty much follows the plan that the Acne Cure lays out... and that is that you need to attack acne with several types of acids/peroxides in combination. One of the reader reviews at amazon tells you what the book outlines, so you could just use that guide... but it's still a quick and easy read if you want to really understand the process. And like i said, if you look at any of the recent treatments, they pretty much follow this solution.

Whats a staph infection?

When you see the doc, demand a culture of your worse looking sore . Untreated, staph can screw you up for life.:(

that's my first thought... are you on roids of some sort ?

And there is no proof that acne is related to diet... at all. I do think stress is a big factor.

BTW, if you "destroy" them... you're going to leave scars. It's true what they say... let them cure themself...

Just stress, here.

I only really get any breakouts when I'm under a LOT of stress and don't do something to work around it.

In general:
* I can't wash my face with ANY bar soap. At ALL. The Neutrogena soap that comes in that squirt bottle (not the foaming one in the pump thing, the regular squirt soap) is the only soap I use right now, as everything else...doesn't work as well.
* Drink LOTS of water during the day. I really have to consciously work to up my water intake when I'm under stress, too - seems to work pretty well to keep things down.
* Even if not tanning, sun helps a bit. Maybe get out an hour or more instead of 30 minutes during the day.

Well sure I am, I didn't believe all the quacks that told me I had acne. My cure cost $25.00

How much have you spent on "cures"?
