Alright, I've killed two of these in my kitchen in the last few weeks. By their reddish color and rather open location I assumed they weren't the dreaded Brown Recluse, but after finding some brown recluse descriptions (mentioning possible reddish brown color) and pictures on the web I'm not so sure now. Someone PLEASE tell me this isn't a brown recluse:

Ack!!
Die!! Die!!
Fuzzy, but it's still a freaking spider!

Sorry they're not clearer but the spider was rather small (maybe 1cm or so long) and my camera can only do so much.

If it IS a brown recluse, any suggestions for clearing these things out? This one was just sitting under a counter edge in a well lit and frequently traversed part of my kitchen.

Edit: Evidentally not a brown recluse, stupid lying google image search. Still curious as to what it is. Killed another in my bathroom later last night. DEATH TO ALL SPIDERS!! (and insects in general :)

These are my pictures taken about 10 minutes in my kitchen of the spider I just killed. I seriously would like to know what it is. If it's harmless I'll leave them alone, if it's a brown recluse I need to do something about them.

Ah, thanks. A lot of the images I found on google image search seemed similar to my pictures. But when I used the standard search all the reputable images looked closer to yours. Stupid people misnaming their spider pictures. :)

That looks like a brown recluse! Where do you live? Make sure you don't get bitten unless you want a big chunk of dead black flesh!

Yes, the bite of the Brown Recluse can cause extreme flesh necrosis at the point of the bite.

I hate spiders, I freak out if they come anywhere near touching me. :)

The only two common spiders you need to worry about are Black Widows and Brown Recluse. Your picture shows it is neither.

Leave them alone because they do more good than harm......
