ACK...promise 33 controller card problems

Ok...I'm trying to hook up my CDROM through the controller card. I tried all the drivers and the newest non-beta drivers for win98. On BIOS boot-up I get the 'BIOS Not Installed' message. However, the device mgr detects the card fine and I can see the drive fine...the thing is that I can't access the drive (i.e. browse a CD loaded for that drive).
Any recommendations?

Getting "BIOS not installed" on Promise cards is normal. If the controller card doesn't detect an ATA/33 device (ATAPI CD-ROMs don't count), it will give that message because it's not loading it's own BIOS (to make hard drives and such bootable) to control the devices.

Now as far as being unable to access the drive, as far as I remember that's an entirely unrelated issue.
