So many sites are going for premium content. I'm so sad!
Webshots charging for high-res wallpaper
USNews charging for Grad School Rankings
AT charging for faster connection
Pr0n sites charging for pr0... ummm nevermind

So sad for a cheapskate like me. :(

I'll second that sheezy. Look at IGN now. I wonder how much their visits have dropped recently.

Once more sites start charging and it becomes crazy, we'll probably see some sort of "subscription service" whereby you can pay a fee for a suite of sites. Like cable packages...

You know, for the entire life of the internet, only one type of site was consistantly making money.

Porn sites.

Porn sites pioneered popup ads. Consumer websites with popups are now common. Pay for content is the next logical step.

Yeah it kinda sucks but I'm quickly getting used to it. I've given money to IGN and AT so far. $20-30 year isn't too bad for a site i use a lot.

I don't think adds will bring enough money for websites anymore, things will continue to cost more. Eventually, you will have to pay for "quality" contents. The free internet and the capitalist world just can't exist together.

Hello people

I didn't want to imply that everything on the internet should be free, I know that can't be true. But cut me some slack, all I was saying is that it's not fun going from "free everything" to "pay for premium stuff". Anyway, I resisted a lot so far but I did pay Yahoo! like 8 bucks for real-time Fantasy Basketball stats. ;)

Still.... so sad.
